This is just so apt. I have so often wondered what I have missed simply because I was not looking at the right moment. I remember a moment when I was busy wrestling my daughter into a diaper and my son, then four years old, said, "Mama! Moose!" And I thought, yeah, right. Like there's a moose in the front yard at 8:00 am. But he was so insistent that I finally looked. There wasn't one moose, there was a female with her yearling calf, and I might have missed it all together. Thanks so much. I look forward to Friday afternoons because of these poems you share.

'convinced me the world waits

to take my breath away,

if I’ll only take a moment'

An elegant poem about a first memory. It made me think of my own (A bee flying into the mug I was drinking from and scaring the life out of me)... it is actually a great prompt.

Particularly liked this phrase:

"And I am forever grateful

my first awareness in this life

convinced me the world waits

to take my breath away"

Excellent writing, thank you for sharing!

Thanks, David! I really appreciate the note. (And that bee encounter is quite the first memory!)

This is memorable. I wonder how many people remember their first memories. These lines are full of poetic expression and show a moment that was not forgotten. Good read!

A precious first memory, reduced to a few stanzas. Distilled writing ( my fav!) at its best.
